Freeze-up 2006 (infrared) - December 5 |

Posted December 7, 2006 Photo: NASA/NOAA |
Infrared of freeze-up There has been an obvious progession in one day. Lady Evelyn Lake is now covered, though the southern basin (dull blue) is thin. Only the north end of Obabika is open. Matagamasi is virtually closed along with the barely visible lakes up the Wolf Lake corridor. Large sections of the Northeast Arm of Lake Temagami are covered, as are Obabika Inlet and small bays. Ice is forming on the Southwest Arm. Sections are obscured by clouds: a grey mass in the upper left corner, and white drift in the lower right.
Key Black open water Dull blue thin ice Bright turquoise thick ice, snow on unforested land (e.g. clearcuts, farmland)
