This infrared photo shows the first signs of break-up. Ice everywhere is thinning, indicated by the blue tone.

There are isolated pockets of open water in the narrows between Lake Temagami and Cross Lake (top arrow), and along the Temagami River ( middle and lower arrows).

There is also open water on Lake Timiskaming and the Ottawa River, which are normally the first break-ups.
