Satellite image of ice break-up in Temagami, 2009

Posted Mon May 4, 2009                                                                         Photo: NASA/NOAA

Break-up nears

Many areas of Lake Temagami are clear of ice, but there are large covered areas. Some of these can be seen on the lower photo as blue-grey: North Arm, Ferguson Bay, Whitefish Bay. Anima Nipissing Lake and the lower basin of Lady Evelyn Lake also have ice.

Smoothwater and Makobe lakes look solid.

The ice is no longer visible on the false-colour images previously used in this series so today we switched to true colour.

This is the first image since April 27 without clouds.
