Satellite image: Lakes Huron to Abitibi, including Temagami and Timiskaming showing freeze-up, Dec 9, 2010

Freeze-up before the new year?

The first good image in a week shows significant ice cover on medium-sized lakes and some sections of large lakes.

The latter includes Obabika Inlet and the southern Southwest Arm of Lake Temagami, southern Obabika Lake, most of Lady Evelyn Lake, Lake Nipissing, and Paulson Bay at the north end of Lake Timiskaming.

This long north-south overview shows most lakes are frozen north of Lake Temagami

The false green is a colour shift to enhance the contrast between open water and ice.
