A dramatic number of lakes have broken up. Ice is still visible on Lake Temagami's North Arm, Ferguson Bay and Whitefish Bay.

Lake Temagami is traditionally the last to go. However, relative to its ice cover, the other lakes should be virtually ice free. This is not the case for many: Lady Evelyn's Lower Basin, Florence, Makobe, Trethewey, Obabika, Sucker Gut.
