NOVEMBER 10, 2010 FOT meetings always interesting Conservation groups tend to have, well, boring meetings. Not Friends of Temagami (FOT). Speakers at last weekend's AGM spoke about traditional aboriginal culture (Craig Macdonald), pictographs (Bill Buchan), declining forestry standards in the area (Bob Olajos), and FOT's ongoing map project (Alex Broadbent).

NOVEMBER 7, 2010 Temagami's grocery closed Temagami's one grocery story closed. The Temagami Co-Operative posted this notice on Friday and closed its doors.

TFN members voting on self-determined membership Who is a member of the Temagami First Nation? Today, Indian and Northern Affairs Canada decides. TFN members will vote on the return of that right. The federal department exercises the power under the Indian Act. It has done so for 100 years. The statute gives First Nations the power if their membership approves. The TFN sent out notice to its members of information sessions and the upcoming vote.
