Break-up Watch 2013 - May 1

Big changes in the last few days with warm temperatures, today topping 25 C, and winds.

A poor-quality image with obstructing clouds, but there is now open water on small areas of lakes Nipissing, Timiskaming and Temagami. Lake Wanapitei appears open, but black ice is there. This is big progress and should continue with the warm temperatures forecast for the rest of the week along with shifting winds.
