Great Lakes

FEBRUARY 20, 2003

Ice and snow

from space

This is the greatest snowfall in depth and southward extent from James Bay to the Southern U.S. since January 8, 1996. Lake Erie has significantly more ice than the other Great Lakes as it is the shallowest.

Meanwhile folks in the Northwest Territories and Alaska are fishing on open river water with record warmth.
