A Celebration Compiled by Brian Back Sources

Sources World's Largest Wood-Canvas Canoe Fleets The closest I could come to a wood-canvas canoe association was the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association. There I started and expanded outward. I surveyed every canoe builder I could find and got responses from 51. These were, in fact, my best sources. I scoured the Internet. I sent emails that resulted in waves of responses as my messages were forwarded to friends. I tried prominent individuals like Benson Gray, Kirk Wipper, James Raffan, Craig Macdonald, Becky Mason, Ralph Frese, Bruce Hodgins and others, and authors like Sue Audette, Jerry Stelmok and others. I asked everyone for leads, tips and hunches, including all the camps on the list. I followed up on every suggestion. Each institution on the list was individually contacted and provided the data used in the list. The following associations were contacted during the search: Adirondack Museum Alberta Camping Association American Camping Association American Canoe Association Associations des camps du Quebec Australian
Camping Association British Columbia Camping Association Camping Association of Nova Scotia Canadian Canoe Museum Canadian Recreational Canoe Association Friends of the Boundary Waters Wilderness German Canoe Federation International Camping Fellowship Lake Champlain Maritime Museum Manitoba Camping Association Maine Youth Camping Association New Brunswick Camping Committee Ontario Camping Association Ontario Recreational Canoe Association Open Canoe Association of Great Britain Saskatchewan Camping Association Scottish Canoe Association South African Canoe Federation |
