Just the deepest left

Only the deepest lakes and the Ottawa River remain — and it rarely entirely freezes over.

Snow machine travel from Bear Island to the landing is now possible.

Even the otters are taking advantage.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

False colour enhances the view of ice and snow.

       KEY

  
Black open water or thin, clear ice
Dull/ dark blue thin ice
Bright turquoise thick ice, or snow on unforested land  (e.g. clearcuts, farmland)
