Moving my boat in an ice flow

APRIL 27, 2005 — Cool, cloudy and 4 C, but some afternoon sun and southwest winds. The water continues to rise after two days of rain. And, finally, the ice is starting to move.

All lake travel seems to be at a standstill, including the airboats. There may be some movement, but I am not aware of it. I heard no motors, besides my own today.

I was able to move partway around my island through some open water. The ice that has moved to shore was very candled, but six inches thick.
