Break-up Watch 2013 - May 7 Ice-out today? Photos and video by Harold Keevil and Gail Spencer |
|
![]() |
Last night, Harold Keevil and Gail Spencer motored up the North Arm of Lake Temagami and had to break ice to get past Sealrock and Raccoon points. This morning, Jason Pigeau reported ice in the same area. Keevil and Spencer took these shots and video at 2:30 p.m. at Raccoon of candled ice. (Satellite photos are no longer helpful if the ice is candled and nothing thick enough to be visible on any Temagami lake today.) This is fragile ice and it won't take much wind to remove it, when we will officially call ice-out.
Natasha Mathias reports there was still ice yesterday on Obabika Lake,
and she spotted the first canoeist of the year working through it.
