Many people on Lake Temagami went to bed by open water and woke up to new ice on their doorstep. Top photo from Wabikon with High Rock Island in the background. Photographer Penny St. Germain: "A nice sunrise over ice as far as we can see in front of Wabikon. Merry Christmas everyone." Photos below from Narrows Island. Photographer Stephen Battis: "Yesterday everything was water. The only ice had been a couple of feet along shore till it was all gone. Overnight it all froze over. No idea how thick." Middle photo looks at Wigwasati. Bottom photo looks down the Southwest Arm to Island 575. Open water could be seen from Bear Island. I extended from Sand Point south to Chimo Island. |
