Lakes to the south breaking up Temagami lakes remain ice covered but lakes to the south, notably Lake Nipissing, are partially ice free. Two to three people walked on the ice, dragging a canoe for safety, passed Garden Island this morning, according to Ottertooth's ice observer Glen Toogood on Lake Temagami. The airboat also went by, but did not break through. There are some open-water areas along the shoreline. See photo. "The ice will hold for a few more days at least," says Toogood. "That two weeks of cold weather dialed it back, and we gained a couple of inches."
