Freeze-up continues

More of Lady Evelyn, Obabika, Temagami, Rabbit and Anima Nipissing lakes have visibly closed in this excellent image from the satellite.

Seeing the open areas gives a good overview of the deepest waters in the area. Predictably the deep waters of lakes Timiskaming, Temagami and Wanapitei will be the last to freeze.

 

 

 

 

 

 

False colour enhances the view of ice and snow.

       KEY

  
Black open water or thin, clear ice
Dull/ dark blue thin ice
Bright turquoise thick ice, or snow on unforested land  (e.g. clearcuts, farmland)
