January 1, 2003 Temagami on New Years Day Don't be fooled by the green. It is a false colour added by Allan Eustis at NOAA to enhance the clouds (gray and white) and their shadows, and make the lakes more visible in their snowy environment. In the inset you can make out open water (dark spots) on Lake Temagami: several places in the Hub, top of the Southwest Arm, mouth of the Northwest Arm, and a large area north of Sealrock Point in the North Arm. Georgian Bay, in the lower left of the large image, is open water. |
